This is the Krugerrand GRC 1oz gold coin from 1990 in Proof/PP (polished plate) minting quality.
The unique feature on this coin is the GRC Mintmark, which proves that each coin was minted at the Gold Reef City (GRC) Mint.
The maximum circulation in 1990 was 1066 copies for all coins including. Sets.
What makes this edition particularly special is the grading by the SAGCE (South African Gold Coin Exchange) with the exceptionally high grade of 100 (Point of Value); we are not aware of any better certified edition in the world.
Front of the Krugerrand coins:
The obverse of the Krugerrand gold coin depicts the world-famous portrait of Paul Kruger, after whom the series of Krugerrand coins was named. Paul Kruger, then President of South Africa (1883 to 1902), founded the mint from which the South African Mint originated. On the edge of the coin, the issuing country was stamped in English and Afrikaans.
Back of the Krugerrand coins:
The reverse of the Krugerrand gold coin depicts a springbok motif with a stylized South African steppe landscape in the background. Likewise, the fine weight of the coin, the fineness and the precious metal are depicted on the obverse of the coin.
