Here we present an extremely rare edition of the 1 ounce platinum Krugerrand coin, released in 2017. This exclusive coin has a worldwide circulation of only 2017 pieces and is therefore extremely popular with collectors and coin lovers worldwide. This platinum example was produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary gold Krugerrand.

A highlight of this edition is the high quality rating from the NGC: PF69 UCAM (Ultra Cameo). This is also a first release edition with a label that bears the signature of the then Mint Director.

Front:

The obverse of the coin features the iconic portrait of Paul Kruger, the namesake of the Krugerrand series. Paul Kruger, who was President of South Africa from 1883 to 1902, laid the foundation stone for the South African Mint, the mint that produced this coin. In addition, the edge of the coin bears the embossing of the issuing country in English and Afrikaans.

Back:

The back presents the design of a springbok embedded in an abstract depiction of the South African steppe. Above it are engraved the words “1967 – 2017 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY” and the name of the coin. Furthermore, the weight, the fineness and the precious metal used can be found on this page.
