The obverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features the world-famous portrait of Paul Kruger, after whom the Krugerrand coin series is named. Paul Kruger, then President of South Africa (1883 to 1902), founded the mint from which the South African Mint emerged. The issuing country is engraved on the edge of the coin in English and Afrikaans.
Back:
The reverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features a springbok motif with a stylized South African steppe landscape in the background. The coin’s fine weight, purity, and precious metal are also depicted on the obverse.
