2023 Libertad 1 oz Gold Proof PCGS PR70DCAM Top Pop

With a mintage of only 1,000 pieces, the 2023 Libertad 1 oz Gold Proof is one of the most limited modern gold issues in Mexico.

The example offered here has been graded PR70DCAM by PCGS . PR70 is the highest possible numerical grade. The designation DCAM, Deep Cameo , refers to the pronounced contrast between the highly reflective fields and the matte motifs of a proof embossing.

With 106 pieces currently certified by PCGS in PR70DCAM, this coin belongs to the PCGS Top Population . It thus combines a very low mintage with perfect condition and the highest achievable PCGS rating.

The winged Victoria

The obverse side features the famous winged Victoria , one of Mexico’s most recognizable symbols. In the background rise the two volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl .

The inscriptions state weight, metal, year of minting and fineness: 1 ONZA ORO PURO 2023 LEY .999 . To the right of the Victoria is the mint mark Mo of the Casa de Moneda de México.

The Mexican coat of arms

The coat of arms side shows the Mexican state coat of arms in the center, with the eagle on a cactus and the snake in its beak.

The current national coat of arms is surrounded by ten historical variations of the Mexican eagle motif . The design thus incorporates different stages in the development of the Mexican national symbol and is one of the characteristic features of the modern Libertad series.

Unlike many classic bullion coins, the Libertad does not bear a face value . The combination of its traditional design, limited mintage, and high-quality proof issues has made the series a distinct collecting area within modern international numismatics.

Only 1,000 units worldwide

Only 1,000 pieces of the 2023 Libertad 1 oz Gold Proof were minted .

The low mintage is therefore a key numismatic characteristic of this issue. This particular example also boasts the perfect grade PCGS PR70DCAM and Top Pop status .
