The El Salvador Colones Independence Coin Set was issued to commemorate the 150th anniversary of El Salvador. Anniversary of the independence of Central America issued. This set is a unique and historic piece that celebrates a significant moment in the history of the region.

Something about the 200 Colones gold coin: On the obverse, the coin features a coat of arms with a bust of José Simeón Cañas y Villacorta, a national hero of El Salvador. The legend around the image reads “REPÚBLICA DE EL SALVADOR AMÉRICA CENTRAL” or “Republic of El Salvador Central America”. The date “1971” is on the bottom of the coin.

The reverse shows a colonial church with the legend “150° ANIVERSARIO DE LA INDEPENDENCIA DE CENTRO AMÉRICA” or “150th Anniversary of the Independence of Central America”. The coin’s value of 200 colones and the dates “1821” and “1971” are found at the bottom, along with the name of the church depicted on the coin “IGLESIA COLONIAL DE PANCHIMALCO”.

The El Salvador 200 Colones Independence Coin was minted by the Casa de Moneda de México and has the mintage number #1812. It was issued by El Salvador in 1971 with a value of 200 colones. The coin is made of gold with a fineness of .900 and weighs 23.6 grams with a diameter of 38 mm.
