On the coin in the center is the Universiade logo, in the background the outline of the stadium runway (four-line inscription:) “UNIVERSIADE KAZAN 2013 RUSSIA” in various font sizes, including five asterisks) and the emblem of Kazan 2013 (stylized graphic image of a tulip) located to the left of the logo; at the top are outlines of the city with cathedrals and minarets, on the strip formed by a concentric line runs the inscription from left to right: “THE XXVIII WORLD SUMMER UNIVERSITY GAMES 2013 IN KAZAN”, complete with a plant decoration on the top.

History

The XXVII. Summer Universiade in Kazan is the most important worldwide university competition held every four years for youth teams. It was held in Kazan from July 6 to 17, 2013. The 2013 Summer Universiade was the largest Summer Universiade ever held. There were 351 sets of medals in 27 sports. A total of 11,759 athletes from 162 countries took part in the competitions. Such a large number of participants is also a record for all university games. Team Russia won the most medals and set the most Universiade records.
