  • Coin grading – 6 key criteria at a glance

Grading a coin means that its authenticity and condition are independently verified and documented by specialized providers such as NGC or PCGS. Especially with high-quality gold coins, professional certification builds trust, increases international comparability, and facilitates trading.

For collectors, however, the number on the slab is not the only decisive factor. Minting quality, surface finish, any special features, population, provenance, and actual market availability also play an important role. A high grade can increase market appeal, but it never replaces the overall numismatic classification.
