Description
Turkmenistan – 2006 – 1000 Manat – Ruhnama – My Dear – Gold – Proof – NGC PF70 UCAM – Top Pop – Population 3 – Cert 6642440-026
This exceptional gold coin from Turkmenistan is one of the representative Ruhnama issues of the 2000s and is significantly more than a classic modern gold coin. It originated in a political and cultural context where select gold coins were deliberately used as state prestige objects and were not primarily intended for the international collector market. It is precisely this original purpose that makes such issues particularly difficult to obtain today, especially in certified top condition.
The coin was struck in proof quality and certified by NGC with the grade PF70 Ultra Cameo. Proof surfaces are extremely sensitive to even the smallest contact marks, and at the same time, Ultra Cameo ensures a strong contrast between the reflective fields and the matte relief. This makes the design appear particularly clear, deep, and three-dimensional, which is crucial for the collector appeal of prestigious issues of this kind.
Of particular note is the census status at NGC. This issue is listed as Population 3, making it a Top Pop, as this is the highest rating given within this issue. Combined with the overall very limited print run, this results in a collector’s item valued not by comparable offers, but by its rarity, replaceability, and market availability. Such pieces are considered classic trophy pieces by experienced collectors.
Background to Ruhnama
The Ruhnama (“Book of the Soul”) was written by President Saparmurat Niyazov and combines spiritual and moral guidance with autobiographical narratives and a highly idealized, sometimes revisionist, historical account of Turkmenistan. It also includes poems and legends—among them works by the renowned Sufi poet Magtymguly Pyragy.
The aim of the work was to serve as a spiritual guideline for the nation – as a basis for art, literature, education and social interaction. The Ruhnama was intended to create a positive self-image of the Turkmen people, to interpret national history heroically, and to define norms for social, family, and religious life.
This gold coin combines political symbolism, rare origin and the highest numismatic quality – an exclusive collector’s item from one of the most unusual minting contexts of modern times.
