This South African collector’s set combines two nationally iconic motifs in a particularly collectible design, namely as the ” Krugerrand and Protea Mint mark Set “ with two different privy marks. This creates a clearly defined special edition that stands out significantly from standard mintings and at the same time develops its own market logic as a closed set.

The 2001 Krugerrand features the springbok as its classic reverse motif and a portrait of Paul Kruger on the reverse. This set presents it in proof condition and also bears the privy mark “CW,” clearly identifying it as a special set variant.

The second coin is the 1 Ounce Protea (Tourism) 2001 in .9999 gold . One side features the protea blossom as the central motif, while the other depicts a tourism scene : a child on the beach with Table Mountain in the background and a partial star to the right. The inscription “1OZ Au 9999” is characteristic. This Protea coin in the set bears the privy mark “GRC,” further distinguishing it from other coins in the 2001 issue.

The set is rounded off by the original wooden box with metal plaque and the designated limitation 023/100 . Both coins are encapsulated in the red inlay and are therefore immediately ready for presentation, which, in our experience, contributes to a noticeable collector’s premium for such special sets.
