Protea 1 oz 1991 PCGS PR69DCAM

This is the very rare 1991 Protea 1 oz gold coin from South Africa. This copy is limited to only 3004 copies worldwide and for this reason is particularly popular with collectors and enthusiasts around the world.

What makes this specimen very special is that it is certified by PCGS with the PR69DCAM (Deep Cameo) grade. It is the only edition in the world that has reached this level! As of today, there is no better or even equally rated 1991 edition on PCGS. In addition, the coin was protected by PCGS through the “NFC anti-counterfeiting technology”.

Front:
On the obverse of the Protea 1991 gold coin, the plant “Protea” is clearly visible in the center. The plant genus Protea (sugar bushes) is one of the typical silver tree plants found in South Africa. Around the plant you can see the inscription “Suid – Africa”, “South Africa” and the year of minting “1991”.

Back:
On the reverse of the gold coin is an oil lamp (Aladdin’s magic lamp) in the middle of a cross. Around the oil lamp are engraved the years 1891 and 1991 to commemorate the existence of the South African Schools of Nursing. Around the motif you can see the inscription “Verpleging Protea Nursing”, “1 OZ Fyn Goud Fine Gold”.
