We are pleased to present you the Colombian gold coin “Antonio Jose de Sucre” 15000 Pesos 1980 NGC PF69 Ultra Cameo.
This stunning coin is made of pure gold with a weight of 17.29 g and an AGW of 0.5003 oz. It was issued by Colombia in 1980 and commemorates the 150th anniversary of the death of Antonio Jose De Sucre, a prominent military and political leader who played a key role in the liberation of several South American countries.
The obverse of the coin features a bust of Antonio Jose De Sucre facing left, with the name of the issuer “REPUBLICA DE COLOMBIA” above it and the dates “1830” and “1980” below it. The reverse shows the coat of arms of La Gran Colombia, with the fineness of the gold on the left, weight and metal on the right, and the year “1980” below. The lettering reads “ESCUDO DE LA GRAN COLOMBIA”, “LEY 0.900”, “1/2 ONZA ORO FINO”, “15000 PESOS”, which translates to “Shield of La Gran Colombia”, “0.999 fine”, “1/2 ounce of pure gold” and “15000 pesos”.
This coin is a rare find, with a mintage of only 250 and an NGCs Top Pop, meaning that to date no issue has been graded better at the NGC. It has been classified by NGC as PF69 Ultra Cameo, which means it has exceptional quality with frosted devices and mirrored fields. It is a perfect addition to any coin collection and a valuable investment.
