This 2021 China Moon Festival Panda Super Incuse Gold Edition is one of the rarest modern panda special edition coins. It is struck from 1 oz .999 gold and combines the popular panda motif with the Chinese Moon Festival, one of China’s most important traditional festivals.

The obverse features a panda against a finely detailed depiction of the moon. The inscription reads “Moon Festival” along with the Chinese name for the Mid-Autumn Festival. The super-incuse technique is particularly striking, as it deeply engraves the design, creating a three-dimensional effect that sets it firmly in place on the coin’s surface. This results in an unusual depth of field that clearly distinguishes this issue from classic gold panda coins.

The reverse side depicts the Great Wall of China in a mountainous landscape. Above it is a circular celestial motif with a lunar theme, next to which is the Chinese inscription “中国·长城”. The year 2021 is shown at the bottom.

This coin has been certified by NGC as PF70 Ultra Cameo, the highest grade for a proof coin. The holder also bears the inscription “First Day of Issue” and a special Moon Festival panda label.

With a mintage of only 188 pieces, this 1 oz gold edition is extremely limited. It combines a rare modern panda motif, 1 oz gold, an elaborate super-incuse engraving, and the top grade NGC PF70 Ultra Cameo.
