South Africa Big Five 2020 – Rhino – Series I – 1 oz PP Gold – NGC PF69 UCAM – First Day of Issue

What you have in front of you is the 2020 version of the rhino coin from the well-known Big Five series, minted by the South African Mint.

This rare edition comes in an NGC holder and has been awarded the excellent grading PF69 UCAM (Ultra Cameo) . Added to this is the special ” First Day of Issue ” award, which bears the authentic signature of Managing Director Tumi Tsehlo.

Manufactured by the South African Mint in South Africa, the coin is the third release in the coveted ‘Big Five’ series. A little hint: The “Big Five” refers to the five large animal species of Africa: elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard. With a global limitation of only 500 pieces, this rhino gold coin is a coveted collector’s item.

A special design element of the Big Five series is the depiction on the reverse of the coin, where two halves of an animal face can be seen. This creates a unique effect: when two coins of this type are placed next to each other, a complete portrait of the “Big Five” animal in question is created. In this case it would be a rhino.

Front:

The face of the coin presents an impressive rhino complete with its distinctive horns. Underneath this depiction are the country of origin “SOUTH AFRICA”, the series name “BIG FIVE” and the year of minting “2020”.

Back:

The reverse of the coin shows two halves of a rhinoceros face. Centrally placed are the face value of “FIFTY RAND”, the weight “1 oz” and the clarity “Au 999.9”.
