These coins are marked with the mint mark “W” indicating their West Point origin. Since 2006, the West Point Mint has also exclusively produced American Buffalo gold bullion coins.
In addition to coin production, the West Point Mint retains its role as a storage facility for gold bullion, while silver is stored on-site only in quantities necessary for minting. Due to the large quantity of gold bars, the Mint maintains strict security measures. Unfortunately, public tours of the facility are not permitted, and the Mint’s address is not listed in the National Register directories.
