Cooper’s Coin Academy 🐶✨ – Counterfeit Detection

Hello friends, it’s your junior numismatist Cooper 🐾 again!
Today we’re talking about a really important topic: coin counterfeit detection . How do you tell if a coin is real or fake?

Coin counterfeits are like mushrooms in the forest 🍄

Imagine it like this:

  • Some mushrooms look delicious but are poisonous.

  • Others are edible and delicious – but only experts can truly tell the difference.

  • If you just pick the first mushroom you see, you risk a nasty surprise. (My humans would never let me touch something like that! 🐶).

It’s the same with coins:

  • Forgeries can look deceptively real – shiny, detailed, sometimes almost perfect.

  • Only experts with experience and the right tools can recognize the subtle differences that reveal true value.

Why certification is crucial 🪙

That is precisely why certification is so important .
Organizations like PCGS, NGC, or CAC provide an additional layer of security. A certified coin has been independently tested—giving you, as a collector, the peace of mind that you’re taking no risks.

And psst 🐶 👉 my humans told me this article is really helpful: Coin Grading Explained – PCGS, NGC, ANACS, CAC, and SAGCE . It explains the differences and provides an overview of the most well-known grading companies.

And by the way, 👉 my humans are authorized NGC, PCGS, and CAC dealers . They can assist you with any questions you may have about coin grading and certification.

Lesson of the day 🌟

👉 Mushrooms should not be picked or eaten without expert knowledge—and coins should not be purchased without professional inspection. Both can be risky, and safety always comes first.

Oh yes 🐶✨ … please forgive me if I sometimes use a bit too many English words. We speak both German and English at home, so I sometimes get things mixed up. But don’t worry: my humans always make sure the important things are explained clearly and understandably. 🐾

Paw-five 🐾,
Cooper 🐶✨
