USA – AMERICAN BUFFALO GOLD – 2008 – PROOF – 4 Coin Set –
This is the special 4 coin proof set of the Buffalo from 2008. Only in this year were such sets released and only 7803 such sets were sold.
The American Gold Buffalo in the proof quality presented here has been minted at the West Point Mint since 2006 in a fineness of .9999. The Buffalo features a Native American with feather headdress and the inscription “Liberty” on the front. On the back is a buffalo/bison with the inscriptions “In God we trust”, “E Pluribus Unum” and “United States of America”. The proof editions are strictly limited in the number of editions per year. This coin is marked “F” to indicate that it is a work by the American sculptor James Earle Fraser.
