Description
Thailand – 1968 – 600 300 150 Baht – Queen Sirikit’s 36th Birthday – Gold – Set of 3
This Thailand set, consisting of BE 2511 (1968), is among the sought-after gold issues of the Rama IX era and was issued to commemorate Queen Sirikit’s 36th birthday. This creates an attractive combination of a clearly defined commemorative issue, several graduated denominations, and a cohesive series, which is particularly prized by collectors of Thai gold coins.
All three coins feature a right-facing portrait of Queen Sirikit on the obverse, surrounded by a legend in Thai script. The reverse bears the official date, August 12, BE 2511, and the respective face value. Furthermore, the uniform design emphasizes the unity of the series, which is why a complete set of three coins is significantly less common than individual pieces.
Important for context: The black plate presented here is a display and storage solution. It has a period-appropriate and decorative appearance, but is not documented as an official original issue from the mint. Therefore, it is intentionally offered as a presentation set. Signs of wear and tear on the plate due to age and storage are possible and common with such displays; however, these do not affect the numismatic value of the coins.
