Front:
The obverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features the world-famous portrait of Paul Kruger, after whom the Krugerrand coin series is named. Paul Kruger, then President of South Africa (1883 to 1902), founded the mint from which the South African Mint emerged. The issuing country is engraved on the edge of the coin in English and Afrikaans.
Back:
The reverse of the Krugerrand gold coin depicts a springbok motif with a stylized South African steppe landscape in the background. Above this motif is embossed the name of the coin. Likewise, the fine weight of the coin, the fineness and the precious metal are depicted on the obverse of the coin.
