The 2025 Krugerrand 2 oz Gold Proof is one of the rarest modern editions of the world-famous South African Krugerrand series. First introduced in 2018, the 2 oz Gold Proof edition is minted in very limited quantities. For the 2025 edition, the limited mintage is only 200 pieces worldwide .
The coin offered here stands out even within this already very small mintage. NGC certified the coin with the perfect grade PF70 Ultra Cameo and additionally as a First Day of Production . Even more exceptional is the designation “One of First 58 Struck .” According to NGC’s markings, this coin is among the first 58 coins minted this year.
The reverse features Coert Steynberg’s famous springbok motif along with the year 2025 and the inscription FYNGOUD 2 OZ FINE GOLD . The obverse features the classic portrait of Paul Kruger with the bilingual inscription SUID-AFRIKA SOUTH AFRICA .
The Krugerrand is traditionally minted from 22-karat gold with a fineness of 916.7/1000 . Due to the addition of copper, the total weight of the 2 oz coin is approximately 67.86 g , while it contains exactly 2 oz of pure gold . The diameter is 40 mm.
The combination of a mintage of only 200 pieces, 2 oz fine gold , perfect NGC PF70 Ultra Cameo Grade , First Day of Production and the exceptional marking One of First 58 Struck makes this coin a particularly interesting collector’s item within the modern Krugerrand series.
