This coin was minted by the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, Wales, United Kingdom, which has been in operation since 1968. The coin is made of pure gold with a diameter of 38 mm and a face value of Le 1 – Leone from Sierra Leone. The known mintage of this coin is 100, only 4 in proof quality. It was graded PF68 Ultra Cameo by NGC and is one of only 3 graded Top Pops by NGC, making it an exceptional and valuable coin.

The obverse of the coin depicts a right-facing lion within a circle, bearing the inscriptions “BANK OF SIERRA LEONE 10th ANNIVERSARY 1964-1974” and “ONE 1 LEONE”. The reverse shows the head of Dr. Siaka Stevens facing right, with the inscriptions “UNITY · FREEDOM · JUSTICE ·” and “DR. SIAKA STEVENS”.

This coin is a commemorative issue created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Bank of Sierra Leone. The coin pays tribute to Dr. Siaka Stevens, a prominent political leader in Sierra Leone, who served as the country’s first Prime Minister and later as President.
