Mexico 2010 Bicentenario Prestige Proof Set

This exceptional Prestige Proof Set was issued in 2010 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Mexican independence movement.

The Prestige Edition combines three significant Proof coins of the Bicentenario year in a presentation limited to just 200 sets.

The centerpiece is the 200-peso Bicentenario gold coin. It contains 37.5 grams of pure gold and depicts the winged Victoria from the Independence Column in Mexico City.

It is complemented by two 20-peso silver coins, each containing 2 oz of fine silver. Both issues feature key themes and figures from Mexican independence history.

The special numismatic significance of this issue lies in its very small set limitation.

The original insert in the lid bears the marking:

The obverse side depicts the winged Victoria of the Independence Column. It also features the years 1810 and 2010, the value 200 pesos, and the inscription “37.5 g ORO PURO”.

The opposite side bears the Mexican coat of arms with eagle and snake, as well as the inscription “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS”.

The Prestige Set also includes two official 20-peso commemorative coins for the bicentenary of Mexican independence.
