Mexico – Gold Medal of the St. Patrick’s Battalion, “1847” (1960). NGC MS62
Front: Cross of Saint Patrick with Mexican eagle behind, legend around it.
Reverse: Standing figure in cloak with raised sword, artillery and walls in the distance.
This beautiful medal was minted to commemorate the foreign volunteers who fought on the side of Mexico during the Mexican-American War.
This issue was graded MS62 by NGC, making it the second highest graded issue to date. It will surely find a new home among the many collectors of Mexican medals.
