Information:
Kizhi, an island in Lake Onega in northern Russia, is famous for its wooden churches, chapels, mills, and peasant huts built by unknown builders. The most important monument, the “miracle of all miracles” of the island’s architecture, is the wooden Transfiguration Church, built in 1714 by Russian builders using the most primitive tools such as axes and chisels.
