Information:
The ballet “Sleeping Beauty” was created in 1889 by the great Russian composer Peter Tchaikovsky. It was first performed on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg on January 3, 1890. The choreography was written by Marius Petipa and is based on Charles Pérault’s fairy tale about the painful love between Princess Aurora and Prince Desire and the triumph of good over evil. The libretto for the ballet was written by IA Vsevolzhsky, the director of the Imperial Theater.
