The 9,302 km long Trans-Siberian Railway, which connects Moscow with Vladivostok, Siberia’s main transport artery, is the longest railway line in the world. The 7,500 km long Siberian section of the railway runs from the Ural Mountains via Omsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Taishet, Bratsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita and Khabarovsk to Vladivostok. The Trans-Siberian Railway, built between 1891 and 1916, has been used for container traffic between Europe and Japan since 1967.
