Information:
Anna Pavlova (1881-1931), a Russian ballet dancer, graduated from the St. Petersburg Theatre School in 1889 and was admitted to the Mariinsky Theatre. Her remarkable talent as a classical dancer was showcased in ballets and concert numbers performed by the best choreographers of the time. Her interpretation of Saint-Saëns’ “The Dying Swan” became legendary. Anna Pavlova, the leading ballerina of the Ballets Russes in Paris, later founded her own troupe, which made a great contribution to the development of ballet.
