Complete gold set with 5 gold coins
1965 was an important year for the Republic of Congo (Léopoldville). The country celebrated the 5th anniversary of its independence – a milestone commemorated with a magnificent set of gold coins. This set, consisting of five exquisite gold coins, was minted in a limited edition of only 3000 pieces by the renowned mint Argor-Heraeus SA. It is a rare collector’s item, especially because around 2100 of these sets were melted down. Today, only a few complete examples are known, making this set a sought-after treasure for coin collectors.
The five gold coins are a tribute to the country’s independence and its then president, Joseph Kasa-Vubu, who was in office from 1960 to 1965.
All coins have been certified very highly by PCGS.
