Krugerrand 2001 Mintmark Coin World 1oz Proof Gold

This is the Krugerrand Launch Set from 2001. This set consists of the 2001 Krugerrand 1 oz gold coin with the Coin World mintmark and a medallion with the inscription “This Krugerrand was minted at Coin World, on “Oom Paul”, one of the oldest working mint presses in the world”.

The Launch Set has a very low production run of only 395 pieces.

Front:

The obverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features the world-famous portrait of Paul Kruger, after whom the series of Krugerrand coins was named. Paul Kruger, then President of South Africa (1883 to 1902), founded the mint from which the South African Mint emerged.

On the edge of the coin was stamped the country of issue in English and Afrikaans.

Back:

The reverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features a springbok motif with a stylized South African steppe landscape in the background. Likewise, the coin’s fine weight, fineness, and precious metal are shown on the obverse of the coin. Then on the right side of the coin you can also see the “Coin World” Mint Mark.

The set:

The set is packed in a beautiful wooden box in the shape of a treasure chest. The set also includes a numbered certificate from the SA Mint.
