Krugerrand 2002 Mintmark Basel World Money Fair 1oz Proof Gold

This is the Krugerrand Launch Set from 2002. This set consists of the 2002 Krugerrand 1 oz gold coin with the Basel Mintmark commemorating the World Money Fair held in Basel that year.

The Launch Set has a very small edition of only 300 pieces.

Front:

The obverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features the world-famous portrait of Paul Kruger, after whom the series of Krugerrand coins was named. Paul Kruger, then President of South Africa (1883 to 1902), founded the mint from which the South African Mint emerged.

On the edge of the coin was stamped the country of issue in English and Afrikaans.

Back:

The reverse of the Krugerrand gold coin features a springbok motif with a stylized South African steppe landscape in the background. Likewise, the coin’s fine weight, fineness, and precious metal are shown on the obverse of the coin. Then, on the right side of the coin, you can also see the “Basel” Mint Mark.

The set:

The set is packed in a beautiful wooden box. The set also includes a numbered certificate from the SA Mint.
