History

The sable is a lively animal with particularly beautiful fur, native to coniferous forests from the northern Urals to the Pacific. More rarely, it is found in forest tundra, rocky locations, and on forested mountain slopes. Unlike its relative, the sable prefers life in the countryside, although it can easily climb trees. It is a nimble predator that can be active at any time of day, but prefers to hunt at dusk and at night.

The Russians have been hunting this valuable animal for a long time. The image of the sable is found on the coats of arms of the ancient Russian cities – Irkutsk, Yakutsk, Verkhoturye.

The sable is an animal listed in the Red Book.
