In the center of the disc the emblem of the Bank of Russia (double-headed eagle with lowered wings, below the semicircular inscription “Bank of Russia”), framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the edge: top – “One hundred rubles”. Below you can see “2001”, on the left – description of the metal and its fineness, on the right – the purity of the precious metal and the mark of the Moscow Mint (MMD).

In the center – floating cook (sailing and rowing ship), above – outlines of Northeast Asia and Alaska. On the left you can see two foxes holding a crown, a bow and two crossed arrows; on the right – the profile portraits of F. Popov and S. Dezhnev. On the background – a rocky shore, the rising sun, along the circle – inscriptions: above – “The design of Siberia XVI-XVII, below – “The expedition of F. Popov and S. Dezhnev”.
History
Russian explorer Semion Dezhnev, together with navigator Fedot Popov, circumnavigated the Chukchi Peninsula in 1648 and opened the strait between Asia and America.
